  Looking Unto Jesus Day 1

Looking unto Jesus (Heb. 12:2)

Only three words, but in those three words is the whole secret of life.

Looking unto Jesus in the Scriptures to learn
who He is…
what He has done…
what He gives…
what He desires…
to find in His character our pattern…
in His teachings our instruction…
in His precepts our law…
in His promises our support…
in His Person and In His work the full satisfaction for every need of our souls.

That last line is the thesis of all Monod will write. In Jesus there is full satisfaction for every need! The Scriptures are an endless fountain of information. And there is nothing worth pursuing in the Word more, than a sharper revelation and understanding of the Lord Jesus. Neglect our time in the Word and we simply turn ourselves away from the fountain of living water, Jesus Christ. Let me suggest you go through each line again and draw to your mind, from Scripture, one thought on who Jesus is; one thought of what He has done; one thought on what He gives and what He desires. Think of an illustration from the Word of one facet of His character; one word of His instruction; one principle He gives for your living; one promise He has made to you.

“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:37-38

Can we pray? “Blessed Father I confess that I too often seek short term satisfaction in those things that dry up my soul. You have sent Your Son as Word to me and Water to me. I need Your words to supply my mind with right understanding in a confusing world. I need Your water to fill my soul with refreshing. Set in my heart a thirst for that One who promises full satisfaction for my every need. Teach me to seek Him through Your sacred page. In His name I pray. Amen”
