Looking unto Jesus and not at ourselves, our thoughts, our reasonings, our imaginings, our inclinations, our wishes, our plans.
One danger is to trust to much in our feelings. Another is to trust to much in our thoughts. One person elevates his impressions to the place of the Spirit’s voice while another elevates his perceptions to the same plane. But there is in both a false deification of the self life. Praise God for the sanctified imagination and the purified thought life. Yet even here I must not count on my ingenuity or my intuition. They will betray me. Only as I look to Jesus Christ as revealed in the Word and illumined by the Holy Spirit can I travel in that way that leads to life. I must not rest in what I feel or what I think. Instead I must keep my eyes on the Lord Jesus and seek my way only in Him.
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. Psalm 14:12
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
Can We Pray? Oh Father teach me to trust only in that which can be found in your Son. Let me not be found resting confidenly in any of my capacities of thought and feeling. Thank you that you communicate to me through these avenues, weak as they are. What great grace it is; that you make known the Lord Jesus to me even as I know that that which is in my flesh there is no good thing. Thank You for your endless mercy! O let me ever trust thee alone. In Jesus Name, Amen
