Looking unto Jesus risen to find in Him the righteousness which alone makes us righteous and permits us, unworthy as we are, to boldly draw near in Jesus’ name to Him who is our Father and God.
There is a spirit of liberty that only the true child of God can know. It is the freedom that allows us once again to walk with God without feeling the need to cover ourselves with a fig leaf self righteousness. The Christian has boldness to walk with a holy God because he or she is covered with the righteousness of the risen Savior. God accepts us in the dress of his Son. Right now, if you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are clothed in a dazzling dress of perfect righteousness. So Zinzendorf wrote and sang, “Jesus Thy blood and righteousness, my beauty are, my glorious dress!” Can you picture today your approach before God and see that he takes you near to himself because you have been wrapped in the moral perfection and righteousness of Jesus Christ?
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” I Corinthians 5:21
“For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” I Timothy 3:3-7
Can We Pray? “Dear God, you gave Adam and Eve the skins of animals with which to cloth themselves. It was a token of a far better dress You have given to me. You have given me the righteous dress of Your dear Son. His righteousness was stronger than sin and death for He triumphed over both in resurrection power. Oh God, let me learn to draw near to you every day with a mixture of humility and confidence; Humility because I cannot come of my own self, Confidence because I come in the name and through the righteousness of my Savior Jesus. In His name, Amen.”
