  Looking Unto Jesus Day 36

Looking unto Jesus and not at our weakness.  By lamenting our weakness have we ever become stronger?  Let us look Jesus, and His strength will communicate itself to our hearts, and His praise will break forth from our lips.

There’s an old saying ‘For one look at self, take ten looks at Christ.’ I am sure that if we began to follow this in our weakness we would soon see our attitude change. Is He not sufficient for us even in our weakness?

The Apostle Paul learned a valuable lesson. He had some sort of weakness and prayed three times for things to change. There was a change, not in his weakness, but in his attitude. He learned to rejoice in his weakness and found that because of that weakness he became strong. Now he didn’t mean he became physically stronger.  He meant that the strength of  his spiritual walk with God and work for God was made stronger as he found that God’s grace was enough.

Long ago Julian of Norwich wrote , “It is God’s will that we take His comfortings as largely and as mightily as we may take them, and also He wills that we take our troubles as lightly as we may take them, and set them at nought.” This is the way of joy in our weakness! His grace is sufficient!

And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.                                                                          II Corinthians 12:9

Casting all your care upon Him; for He cares for you.                      I Peter 5:7

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation.                                                                Isaiah 12:2-3

Can We Pray?  Gracious Father of Love, I pause to speak out to you now the weaknesses that I am aware of in my own life.  I want to be stronger in these various areas.  I want you to use me in those places.  But I want the gains to be all of you and none me.  Thank you for my inabilities.  I will not use them as excuses to be unavailable to you. I only pray that you would now express your enabling grace to be strong at the point of my need.  In Jesus Name Amen.
