Looking unto Jesus as long as we remain on the earth. We must look unto Jesus from moment to moment, without allowing ourselves to be distracted by memories of a past which we should leave behind us nor by an occupation with a future of which we know nothing.
O there is nothing wrong with a little nostalgia but you must make sure that it does not replace a contemporary focus on Jesus Christ. Be careful of sleepy dreams of the past and the future. We need to wake up to the world around us. Don’t seek to leave this world through the misty dreams of yester-year. Nor attempt to escape it by solely setting our sights on tomorrow. Live in the now but live there with the Lord Jesus. Let us remain on earth, so to bless earth and those in it but let us remain here occupied in thought and deed with Jesus Christ. In this way we may give the earth, this hour, and this moment the gift of the One who remains with us to the very end of the age.
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? Hebrews 13:5-6
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. Romans 13:11
Can We Pray? Great God and Father I know that you are here. Your Spirit makes you dear to my heart. I know your Son lives in me this very moment. Let this trust brighten my day. Sweep in the good memories of the past and the hopeful prospect for the future; sweep them in, I ask, to sweeten my present. And now let my past, future and present be ruled by His person; His presence. Amen
