Looking unto Jesus afresh, if we have ceased doing so.
Dr. V. Raymond Edman wrote little book entitled “They Found the Secret.” He writes of people whom we would call ‘successful’ in their field of ministry; people like Hudson Taylor, Andrew Murray, D. L. Moody, Amy Carmichael and others. And yet each one felt their own inadequacy. What was their secret? As you read the accounts of these various people you will find that they had one in common – each had a fresh look at Jesus Christ.
Why do we need a fresh look at the Lord? It is so easy to get side-tracked, to lose our dependence on the Lord in our Christian life even when we are involved in good things. The Lord said, ‘look unto me and be saved.’ All too often the Believer stops looking to Him after that first look for salvation until the time when they feel their own terrible inadequacy in living the Christian life. Welcome such moments. They reminds us look afresh to Jesus Christ. He not only came to give us life; He came to give us life more abundantly.
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God. II Corinthians 3:5
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. II Corinthians 9:8
Can We Pray? Lord Jesus you are the bread of life. You are my food. Let me learn to take your life afresh for myself every day. May I be faith to collect from you all the benefit of your presence and power for all I need to make it through each day. I want to live from day to day with you as the precious supply I depend on for that life. Thank you for being my sustenance. Amen.
